Vascular Laser for Keloids

Have you tried intralesional steroid injections in the past only to have a recurrence barely a few months after it has improved? While intralesional steroid injections help in shrinking the keloid, it tends to reappear if we don’t treat the blood vessels feeding the scar tissues. For as long as the keloid appears red, the chances of scar regrowth are higher.

We use the Cutera Nd: YAG laser to complement our anti-inflammatory injections for elevated scars like keloids and hypertrophic scars. The laser beams destroy the blood vessels that supply growth-promoting substances to the scar tissues. This cuts off the oxygen and nutrient supply to the area in order to suppress the further production of abnormal, overgrown collagen (scar tissues). The treatment also reduces inflammation and improves the color of the skin.
